The Lobby

The Lobby has been a favourite meeting place for foreign guests and local residents since the hotel opened in 1976, be it for corporate executives in a hurry or for friends on the lookout for a quiet spot and a steaming cup of coffee while exchanging the latest news. The much-beloved menu which includes smoked tanguingue (mackerel) with dill sauce and the award-winning Halo-Halo Harana (a cooling tropical dessert made with shaved ice and tropical fruits topped with a scoop of purple yam ice cream) continue to hold a special place in guests' must-eat list.

Escolta

Feast from around the world at Escolta's renowned international buffets at breakfast, lunch and dinner featuring live cooking stations, home-baked breads, fresh pastas, hand-rolled sushi, charcuterie, Chinese noodles, carving stations, artisanal ice creams plus a 'farm-to-table' concept that highlights fresh produce and favourite Filipino dishes.

Spices

With floor-to-ceiling windows that open up to the pool and lush tropical gardens, Spices' Balinese inspired dcor transports diners to a Southeast Asian paradise. Spices presents the flavourful cuisines of Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Singapore, Sri Lanka and India. Headed by specialty chefs from Thailand and India, Spices truly lives up to its name, serving exotic and authentic dishes.

Salon de Ning

Enter the glamorous and sophisticated world of fanciful socialite Madame Ning in a nightclub reminiscent of 1930s Shanghai. Amidst Art Deco objets d'art, indulge in a bottle of Salon de Ning Ros Champagne, the signature 'Ning Sling' or other uniquely created cocktails. For more intimate gatherings, disappear into one of the four impressive themed private rooms. Choose from the Boxing Room - a tribute to the legendary Joe Louis, a boudoir dedicated to shoes, a silver-strewn Zeppelin-themed room or the mysterious Oriental-inspired alcove.

Pool Snack Bar

Surrounded by a lush tropical landscaped garden, the pool at The Peninsula Manila is truly an oasis tucked away in the urban jungle of Makati. Basking in the afternoon sun by the pool with a refreshing cocktail in hand and favourite snacks nearby is the best way to enjoy a vacation or stay-cation in this bustling metropolitan city. The Pool Snack Bar features light bites inspired by cuisine from around the world served to sun loungers or in the cool shade of the canopied area.

The Bar

Wind down at The Bar with an ice-cold beer or a tipple of your choice after a busy day. Leather chairs and checkered floors create a cosy living room feel. The ambience is reminiscent of the dimly lit bars of La Antigua Habana in Cuba. Savour a malt whisky or a glass of wine and enjoy the conviviality of the bar or sink into a sofa for quiet conversation or a business meeting. Open from 3:00 pm to 2:00 am daily, The Bar is also the hotel's designated smoking area.

台北市文化局今天(1日)召開記者會，宣告2016台北兒童藝術節將於7月1日至8月7日登場，6月5日正式啟售。今年兒藝節最大特色就是呼應世界設計之都，強調參與式演出，展覽同時也是演出劇場，邀請小朋友不只是單純的觀眾，更有機會參與故事發想與演出，激發兒童想像力。

今年台北兒童藝術節有來自台灣、西班牙、澳洲、義大利、荷蘭、比利時、愛爾蘭共7個國家28個藝術團隊帶來精彩演出，總場次多達174場。

在節目安排上，藝術家與創作過程變成台前演出的一部分。例如澳洲「小海龜偶戲團」帶來一場名為「小小市民大冒險」的參與互動展演，小朋友可以根據展場現場佈置的迷你鐵道城市，選擇自己想要的迷你小人偶角色，賦予故事，再由藝術家們藉由各種形式演繹出來。台南人劇團則推出「木偶會說話」節目，藝術家們運用木頭和聲音裝置打造的感官劇場，每件木頭裝置都藏有一個小朋友的心事，觀眾不只能欣賞木作藝術家們的手藝，更能遊走裝置和現場演員間，進入一個純真又複雜的童稚世界。

執行總監劉麗婷指出，今年台北兒藝節和往年最大的不同就是呼應台北市世界設計之都活動，希望讓小朋友能有更多參與，激發他們的想像力。劉麗婷說：『(原音)今年比較特別是，一方面我們也展示說呼應世界設計之都，我們希望說小朋友在過程中可以參與製作的發想、這個演出的過程，而不是只有看演出。』

今年台北兒藝節也有不少節目取材自文學作品，台灣戲曲學院根據「詩經?大雅?生民」中的故事，打造一齣東方戲曲「巨人的腳印」；鞋子兒童實驗劇團改編原住民小說的「東谷沙飛傳奇」作品，以及「影響?新劇場」以國外經典名著「白鯨記」所延伸出的同名奇幻劇場，以戲劇、音樂、偶與光影，創造屬於台灣兒童的海洋傳說。
